Boston Celtics receive: John Collins and Bruno Fernando

Atlanta Hawks receive: Romeo Langford, Grant Williams, 2020 Memphis Grizzlies 1st round pick, 2020 Boston Celtics 1st round pick

The first iteration of a John Collins deal sends out the C’s two most recent first round draft choices and their two upcoming picks to bring in a 2017 first rounder in Collins along with the #34 pick of the 2019 draft in Bruno Fernando.

So far, Fernando has not yet made much of a dent in his time with the Hawks. There will be an even tougher uphill climb for him with the recent additions of Capela and Dewayne Dedmon at the center position.

Neither of those guys has pliability in the lineup. Both need to play center. Luckily for Atlanta in this deal, Grant Williams can play alongside both players, making him a better fit.

The obvious draw of this deal is the potential of last year’s #14 pick in Romeo Langford and the pair of first round picks that would be going to the ATL in this proposal. Langford hasn’t matched his college production quite yet, but his ability to score could potentially explode playing alongside one of the game’s most gifted setup men in Trae Young.

While the picks don’t appear to be falling in the lottery with the Celtics and Grizzlies both on their way to the playoffs before the season was suspended, the Hawks get another shot to add talent in the mid to late first round after initially finding Collins at #19.
