Vincent Poirier

Vincent Poirier is the only player on this list with a guaranteed contract for the 2020-21 season. Still, his play thus far in his young career hasn’t justified the investment Ainge put into the French rookie.

At 26, Poirier is right in the middle of his athletic prime. His first season adjusting to the NBA level has not given much hope that he can make a successful transition. Ainge was looking to strike gold again after finding Daniel Theis in a similar spot.

Unfortunately, Poirier is a $2.5 million bench warmer. With Tacko Fall set to be converted from a two-way player to a full-time roster member, Poirier’s $2.5 million could be shopped alongside one of the Boston Celtics’ three first round picks in the NBA draft (when it will takes place is anyone’s guess).

If the season is in fact over, Poirier’s two points and 1.6 rebounds likely won’t justify Ainge getting rid of his two two-way G-League All-Stars to retain him. His lack of aggression and scoring touch around the rim makes him a likely one and done this season unless he can be traded with a team looking to develop talent in 2020-21.
