2. Clint Capela

There was plenty of chatter about the Boston Celtics being in on Clint Capela trade talks yesterday. We have done plenty of talking about the dynamics of a Capela deal here on HH, and for the most part there is concern about whether or not such a deal makes sense…especially if the price tag becomes too high.

My co-editor Mark Nilon doesn’t want to part with the necessary assets likely required to swing a deal:

"Truth be told, there is no questioning whether Capela is a good player or whether he’d be an upgrade at the five for Boston: he is and would be. However, despite this being the case, with his salary coupled with the fact that Houston is looking for wings in return for the 25-year-old, he may be a bit out of Boston’s price range. Almost every trade centered around Capela would probably include Romeo Langford in it. And, while the wing hasn’t had too much of an impact for the C’s so far in 2019-20 (2.3 points .9 boards on 46 percent shooting) it must be stated, the kid’s still a rookie!"

If it takes Langford to get a deal done, the Boston Celtics should likely say no. They may be hardpressed to even match the Rockets’ asking price, which would include a starting caliber wing player and a center.

Semi Ojeleye and Vincent Poirier are likely not what Darryl Morey has in mind, but that is what the C’s have to potentially give.

If Capela ends up in a Celtics uniform, expect there to be a three-team deal that satisfies all the requirements Houston is looking for.
