Boston Celtics rumors: 3 players that are untouchable in Clint Capela talks
Marcus Smart
The most likely salary match for the Rockets in a deal with the Boston Celtics is Marcus Smart. Like the previously mentioned Brown and Tatum, Smart would also be a great fit next to Harden and Westbrook in the lineup.
Smart could take a lot of pressure off of both players defensively by manning up the other team’s best perimeter players in a playoff series. Taking the burden off of Harden against the likes of Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and LeBron James would be a boon for a Rockets team that relies so heavily on Harden’s offensive talents.
Alongside P.J. Tucker, Smart would help bring a defensive intensity and floor spacing to a Rockets team whose identity is built on the offensive talents of their superstars. A Westbrook-Harden-Smart-Tucker-Tyson Chandler starting five could be a threat to the Los Angeles franchises, the Denver Nuggets or really any other top-tier Western Conference team in a seven-game series.
Again though, that is pure fantasy. The only way the Boston Celtics acquire Capela is packaging picks with a group of players that would most likely be headlined by Enes Kanter, Daniel Theis or Romeo Langford–or a combination of the three.
None of these guys will be included in a Capela deal.
