Lakers Take Over Top Spot In NBA Power Rankings

Because of a change in my schedule at school I have chosen to change the day that we release our weekly power rankings. The rankings will now be released on Wednesday evenings and available for you on Thursday morning. This week the Lakers took over the top spot from the Cleveland Cavaliers for the first time in a month. We will give you a quick preview of the rankings here but to see the full rankings and why we choose them make sure to check out our “Weekly Power Rankings” page.

  • As noted above the Lakers took over the top spot, the Cavaliers remain at #2 for now.
  • The Orlando Magic continue to hold onto the #3 spot and hope to help their cause with a team they have struggled against (Miami).
  • With a healthy lineup the Boston Celtics slip into the #4 spot, the highest they’ve been in a while.
  • The Jazz, Hawks, and Nuggets come in at #5, 6, and 7 respectively. All of these teams are great basketball teams and can win against almost anybody in the league.
  • The Thunder, Mavs, and Suns come in at #8, 9 , and 10 respectively. The Thunder jump up one spot from last week and continue to prove they are the real deal. The Mavs are starting to come back around with Butler in the lineup and the Suns re-enter the top ten by going 8-2 in their last ten.

We hope you enjoy this week’s power rankings and make sure to check back next Wednesday for our updated rankings.
