7 Free agents who should be on Celtics' summer wish list

5. Cedi Osman
The Celtics added five wings in the 2023 offseason in hopes of finding a quality backup for their star duo, but Sam Hauser has seized that bench role. The 6’8 forward is an elite shooter, but his defense remains a question mark. Can Boston trust him through multiple playoff runs?
Osman helped the Cavaliers reach the playoffs in 2023 before being dumped in the Max Strus deal. He remained on the rebuilding Spurs where he averaged 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 17.4 minutes per game. Osman stuck in San Antonio because head coach Gregg Popovich was impressed. The 6’7 forward has shot over 37 percent from 3-point range in each of the last two seasons and has the size to guard multiple positions.
The 28-year-old is in the middle of his prime and could be eager to chase a championship. He has been in the playoffs just twice in his first seven NBA seasons. Osman would love to prove he can help a contender. He fills a need for the Celtics but would have to take a pay cut to come to Boston.
Only being able to offer a minimum contract could force the Boston Celtics into signing a veteran ring chaser who can only handle a lesser role.
