The Boston Celtics will play their final regular-season game of the season on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Charlotte Hornets in a 1:00 p.m. (Eastern time) matinee. However, after all of their regular guys (minus Jaylen Brown) played in their game against the Hornets on Sunday, Boston will be rolling out a skeleton crew on Sunday.
A similar story can be told for the Hornets, who are also missing many of their regular guys. The likes of LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Tre Mann were all out on Friday, and they remain out for Sunday’s contest, too.
Here is the Celtics injury report for their game against the Hornets on Sunday, April 13.
Celtics injury report vs. Hornets on Sunday, April 13
- Jaylen Brown OUT (right knee posterior impingement)
- Jrue Holiday OUT (right shoulder impingement)
- Al Horford OUT (right knee option)
- Kristaps Porzingis OUT (return from illness superintendent)
- Jayson Tatum OUT (rest)
- Derrick White OUT (right neck sprain)
Hornets injury report vs. Celtics from Friday, April 11***
- Moussa Diabate OUT (illness)
- LaMelo Ball OUT (right ankle)
- Miles Bridges OUT left hip)
- Josh Green OUT (left shoulder)
- Tre Mann OUT (disc)
- Brandon Miller OUT (right wrist)
- Grant Williams OUT (ACL)
The entire top six will be out for the Celtics on Sunday afternoon: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford.
Outside of Brown, everyone on the Celtics is likely just using this game as a rest day, but in the case of Brown, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN provided an update on the knee issue he’s been dealing with:
“Celtics All-Star forward Jaylen Brown received pain management injections in his troublesome right knee this week in an effort to promote healing before Boston begins its title defense, league sources told ESPN,” Shelburne wrote.
“Brown is expected to be ready for the start of the Celtics' first-round playoff series either April 19 or 20, sources said.”
Due to his absence in the final two games of the season, Brown did not reach the NBA’s 65-game minimum to qualify for NBA Awards.
The Hornets have not provided an updated injury report for Sunday’s game, but the players above were all out for Friday’s contest.
