Boston Celtics C Robert Williams

The most realistic situation would see Robert Williams III heading to the All-Star game next season. Williams had a breakout season in 2021-22, earning an NBA-All-Defensive second team selection in the process. He nearly averaged a double-double for Boston, putting up 10 points and just under 10 rebounds per game. Timelord was second in the league in blocks per game, only behind Jaren Jackson Jr, and first in defensive rating. The fifth-year center is also one of the most efficient players in the NBA, sinking just under 74% of his shots.

Rob is a perfect fit for Boston’s defensive scheme. He played the role of a roamer last season, and was able to be effective because of his incredible athleticism. Williams was able to be team’s safety valve, helping on drives and protecting the rim. His importance to the team’s success could certainly lead to an all-star selection.

Williams has the stats and impact on winning to impress all-star voters, he has the highlights too. Timelord’s exciting high-flying style of play grabs the attention of the casual fan who may be voting for the All-Star teams. It seems as if every game there is a highlight of him throwing down an alley-oop or sending a shot into the fifth row.

The Eastern Conference isn’t exactly loaded with talent at the center position. Of course, Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid is spectacular, coming in as last year’s runner up for the NBA MVP Award. Miami’s Bam Adebayo is no slouch either. Behind those two it’s pretty much open season for the third best center. Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen, who was named to last year’s All-Star team, and Atlanta’s Clint Capella have similar playstyles and play at a similar level to ‘The Timelord.’ It’s not unrealistic for Rob to sneak in as the East’s third best center.
