Boston Celtics player No. 3) Robert Williams III

Last but certainly not least, we have the security blanket of this elite Boston Celtics defense in soon-to-be fifth-year pro, Robert Williams III.

At age 24, the big man broke onto the scene for the C’s, serving as their main attraction down low as well as arguably their third cog within the team’s Big 3. Through 61 games played, Time Lord posted stellar per game averages of 10 points, 9.6 boards, two assists, and 2.2 blocks per game on a whopping 74 percent shooting from the floor.

Ever since he was selected 27th overall by the Cs back in the 2018 draft, fans, media, and Boston’s own personnel have been raving about the potential that the Texas A&M product has and, in 2021-22, he absolutely delivered on this promise.

Is he that highly coveted floor-spacer down low that seemingly every organization wishes to roster? No.

That said, he’s an athletic freak with otherworldly athleticism and rim-protecting abilities who can absolutely shine on both ends of the floor.

An all-around enforcer, this past season Williams trailed just Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Rudy Gobert (literally three of the best frontcourt players in the game today) with 0.262 win shares per 48 minutes.

With him on the floor manning the middle, Boston has zero reasons to worry on either side of the ball.

An absolutely fluid talent who led the team in offensive rating, defensive rating, and defensive box plus-minus last year (out of those who played over 800 minutes on the season), Robert Williams III is no longer just a young talent with promise.

Instead, he’s a core part of this championship-aspiring team’s rotation and plays a big role in why they’re viewed as title favorites heading 2022-23.
