Potential landing spot No. 1) Memphis Grizzlies

The reasoning for why the Memphis Grizzlies make the cut for this list may be deemed as a bit superficial to some, but we at HH believe it could be potentially disastrous, at least when it comes to a status standpoint.

For the better part of the last three seasons (essentially since Jayson Tatum took over as the top dog in the team’s pecking order), the Boston Celtics have been viewed as the league’s most ferocious young squad, as they’ve been led by two players who have been well on the right side of their 20’s and have seen incredible overall success, most recently coming within just two wins of winning the 2022 NBA Championship.

Unfortunately, however, the ball club has yet to taste ultimate glory, and, as time has gone by, we’ve seen several others start to inch their way closer to the C’s as far as young and talented teams are concerned, while Boston only continues to age.

As things currently stand, the main threat to this claim is the Grizzlies, as they’re led by the likes of budding superstar point guard, Ja Morant, who, at just 22 years old, guided his squad to the second-best record in the association at 56-26 and to their first playoff series victory since 2015.

Now, should their front office be able to pair this rising stud with someone of Kevin Durant’s ilk, not only would they be instantly thrust into the upper echelon of the legitimate title contenders conversation, but they also would have accomplished the goal that the Boston Celtics have tried and failed to achieve throughout the years (i.e. pair their promising building block with a perfect-fit star).

The games of Ja and KD mesh together unbelievably well and, should Brooklyn be willing to accept a package similar to what Bleacher Report has recently proposed, Memphis would be able to create one of the most menacing one-two punches in the game today all while keeping a substantial amount of their young nucleus intact, thus subsequently nudging the Boston Celtics out of the way to take the title of top young team in the league.

On top of all this, they would also be seen as a greater threat to win an NBA title next season as well as for the next several seasons to come, thus making the C’s chances of finally attaining banner No. 18 dwindle even more.
