The Boston Celtics fell just a bit short of reclaiming sole possession of the moniker “NBA’s most winningest franchise” this past season, as they were a mere two wins away from bringing home their 18th Larry O’Brien trophy before succumbing to the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals.

Since this season-closing contest, it seems as though Brad Stevens and co. have been working tirelessly to try and shore up some of the loose ends that hindered the ball club’s chances of achieving ultimate glory, and, frankly, it appears they may have accomplished this objective already.

On the first full day of this year’s NBA Free Agency period, just over two weeks after the Finals had concluded, the C’s managed to strike gold not just once, but twice within a span of a few hours.

Starting off the day it was announced that the organization had reached an agreement to sign veteran forward Danilo Gallinari once he is cleared from waivers after parting ways with the San Antonio Spurs (traded there from the Atlanta Hawks in the Dejounte Murray blockbuster).

Then, not too long after, news broke that the front office went on to make another potentially high-impact move, this time via the trade market as it was reported that the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers had agreed to a deal that would send point guard, Malcolm Brogdon to eastern Massachusetts.

With these two aforementioned moves, Stevens was able to add some much-needed wing depth (something they’ve been missing for years now), a facilitating guard, and more scoring commodities to their second unit without sacrificing any of their core.

With this, many are ecstatic to see what this team could wind up looking like come next season, as there are many rotational experiments that could be done thanks to how versatile this new-look roster is.

However, even before we get a glimpse at what coach Ime Udoka will wind up doing with his lineups, the odds makers are already penciling Boston in as having the second-best chances of winning the 2023 NBA Finals.

The top 10 reads as follows:

          Team                                        Odds

  • Phoenix Suns                         +550
  • Boston Celtics                        +600
  • Golden State Warriors         +600
  • LA Clippers                              +650
  • Milwaukee Bucks                  +700
  • LA Lakers                              +1000
  • Miami Heat                          +1000
  • Philadelphia 76ers             +1200
  • Dallas Mavericks                 +2000
  • Memphis Grizzlies              +2000

Now, while these odds are incredibly exciting to see, considering we still have three more months of offseason endeavors to tend to, there’s a solid chance that, come October’s tip-off, the Boston Celtics could wind up going on to take the top spot on this list.

From here on out, it’s all contingent on what the team’s decision-makers wind up doing.
