Boston Celtics target No. 2) Danilo Gallinari

There’s an argument to be made that, not only is Danilo Gallinari the ideal free agent for the Boston Celtics to try and sign in this summer, but he also may be the exact type of talent that they’ve been missing over the last several seasons.

After being traded from the Atlanta Hawks to the San Antonio Spurs in the Dejounte Murray deal, as expected, the 33-year-old was waived and, in turn, now finds himself available on the open market.

Reports are that he’s eyeing just a handful of teams, and the C’s are one of them. In fact, they’ve been reported as being his preferred destination.

His arrival in Boston could prove to be nothing short of amazing, as the team could absolutely use for a player who can help bolster their wing depth (something they’ve tried and failed to address over the last several years) and serve as a consistent and efficient scorer off the pine.

Gallinari checks both boxes.

Throughout his 14-year tenure in the association, the forward has made a name for himself as being a tremendous role player and an effective offensive talent.

Boasting career averages of 15.6 points on 38 percent shooting from deep, even this past season, the forward showed that he still can produce for a playoff team at a reliable rate.

Despite seeing the second-lowest attempts per game averages of his career, Gallinari still managed to put up 17 points per 75 possessions on 38 percent shooting from beyond the arc while also showcasing his crafty inside-out game that’s been impressing fans and his respective employers for years.

On top of all the obvious (his scoring prowess, his experience in the league, his reported desire to join the Celtics, etc.), perhaps the most stellar aspect of a Danilo Gallinari signing is that, while he’s technically a wing because of his typical position being small forward and his respective playstyle, due to his impressive 6-10, 225-pound build, he could also be used rather often down at the four spot, thus creating the groundwork for what could be an absolutely lethal inside-out scoring lineup alongside Tatum, Brown, and, Al Horford.

C’mon Brad, let’s bring the veteran in via the MLE and start this offseason off with a steal of a signing, shall we?!
