Boston Celtics: The good, the bad, and the ugly from OT win over Orlando
By Seth Quinn
The Ugly: Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers
The Boston Celtics not only turned the ball over way too often during Sunday night’s game, but they also didn’t force the Orlando Magic into enough turnovers to counteract their own turnover issues, especially in the middle two quarters.
After having a 28-19 lead heading into the second period, the C’s got complacent and sloppy, and allowed the Magic to get a ton of extra possessions. Not only did their star player in Brown cough up seven balls, but, as a whole, they let up a total of 21 turnovers, including nine in the second quarter alone.
That allowed the Magic, along with starting to make shots (mainly by Terrence Ross) to take a 14 point deficit and turn it into a 14 point lead.
However, it was the ugly, unforced turnovers that Boston repeatedly committed that allowed the Magic to begin their comeback.
On the bright side, the Celtics started to force turnovers in the fourth quarter, and that allowed them to make a comeback themselves and bring the game to overtime.
However, 22 turnovers are simply inexcusable and is exactly how you lose to a much less talented team like Orlando.
