The Bad: Second unit production

Both team’s benches had one player that stood out on the final stat-sheet — for the Boston Celtics it was Josh Richardson, who scored nine of the team’s 14 bench points, and for the Magic, it was Terrence Ross, who scored 33 of the team’s 39 bench points.

While the veteran wing is the exact type of spark plug player to have a game like this, it’s still concerning that the C’s let him get as hot as he did.

On top of that, his bench production was a huge reason for why Orlando nearly won the game, and he single-handedly created a scoring discrepancy between the teams’ second units.

Just as concerning as allowing 33 bench points to Terrence Ross, Boston only scored 14 bench points themselves.

While yes, the team has a lot of injuries which makes their already somewhat weak bench weaker, the team still needs more production from it, especially against flat-out bad NBA teams like the Magic.

These games should be opportunities for Jaylen Brown to rest a bit and let other guys take over, not the exact opposite where they needed 50 points from their star just to barely squeak out a win in overtime.
