Boston Celtics third star target #1: Brandon Ingram

The New Orleans Pelicans have been wildly disappointing this season, even after they stunned the Washington Wizards last night.

They did so in large part because of a 26 point outing from Brandon Ingram, who is averaging over 20 points for the third straight year.

What makes Ingram an intriguing option is his facilitating. His assists per game averages have been consistently over four during his two seasons and change in New Orleans. He can provide an extra source of playmaking in the starting lineup without sacrificing size at six-foot-eight, unlike two guard lineups featuring Dennis Schroder and Marcus Smart.

Having three guys who can score in the open floor, in isolation, and off the catch-and-shoot would make the Cs a very difficult team to game plan against come playoff time.

Boston Celtics third star target #2: Pascal Siakam

The Toronto Raptors have a nice young team that is probably a year or two away from being a potential postseason challenge to a higher-seeded foe.

Things could go south in the interim, though, just as they did literally and figuratively in 2020-21 when the team followed up a second round elimination by the hands of the Cs in the bubble with a .375 winning percentage.

Pascal Siakam is already an NBA champion, so it’d be a big statement to make a move for him to pair with the ‘Jays’ and Robert Williams and form another impressive shooting trio in the vein of the aforementioned Brandon Ingram idea.
