Boston Celtics stud: Grant Williams

In the past, we’ve stated that, at least in regard to this point in the season, third-year power forward Grant Williams is essentially a 3-point specialist for the Boston Celtics and, should he not be hitting on his attempts, he’s arguably a liability on the hardwood due to his lacking size and lowly capped athleticism.

That said, when he’s knocking down his shots he’s proven to be a fantastic asset for the team and Wednesday night he did and was exactly that, finishing as the C’s second-leading scorer right behind Tatum.

Getting a spot in the starting five with big man Robert Williams sidelined whilst nursing a knee ailment sustained in their previous outing, the 22-year-old came out guns blazing, dropping 10 points in the first period on nearly 67 percent shooting from the floor and 50 percent shooting from downtown.

By game’s end, Williams finished with a solid overall stat-line of 18 points and six rebounds on 50 percent shooting from the field and 37.5 percent shooting from distance.

Playing aggressive on both ends of the ball and fighting down low for second-chance opportunities (scored two offensive rebounds, one of which came in crunch time), while the forward may not be viewed as a player who will lead a team to a victory, with this type of hustle and production he certainly will not be one that’s the main catalyst towards a loss either.
