Boston Celtics veteran #1 the youth could force out: Josh Richardson

Josh Richardson’s high-ish salary, coupled with a lack of a long-term commitment saddled with it, make him the most tradeable perimeter player on the roster.

You’d think it would be Marcus Smart after he said this Monday night after a frustrating 14-point loss to the Chicago Bulls the Cs were carrying a 14-point lead into the forth quarter of:

"“Every team knows we’re trying to go to Jayson and Jaylen…Every team is programmed and studied to stop Jayson and Jaylen. Everybody’s scouting report is to make those guys try to pass the ball. They don’t want to pass the ball. That’s something that they’re going to learn.”"

But, alas, Smart’s chaos usually becomes an impetus for winning. Perhaps the team needs what he brings, even at an annual value of just under $20 million.

At $11 million, potentially backing up third and second year Celtics makes Richardson not worth the cost.

An uninspiring 42/33/80 shooting split in 21 minutes per game is not helping the team win, and Boston played well both times he was out of the lineup against the Heat Thursday night and against the New York Knicks in the home opener.
