Cons of the Boston Celtics trading for John Wall

So now let’s speak about that massive 2022-23 salary figure Wall has tied to his final season on the books.

It’s massive. $47 million is an entire lineup, so obviously, it’s going to take several pieces to get something done on the Cs front office’s end.

At minimum, it seems that Al Horford is going to need to be included. Check out what Quinn said about Horford being included in a Wall deal:

"Yes, this is where the fantasy starts to fall apart. If the Celtics wanted a point guard in Horford’s salary slot, they probably would’ve just kept Kemba Walker."

Clearly, it would make little sense to get rid of a respected locker-room leader in Horford to bring in a potentially problematic veteran.

Not to mention, more would have to go. Does Houston even want a player like Josh Richardson, who cuts into Kevin Porter Jr. and Jalen Green’s minutes? Dennis Schroder is equally useless to the Rockets considering his career goals and their own season goals.

All in all, a move for Wall may not make sense for Boston, while a potential Celtics return might not entice Houston.

Verdict: Cons outweigh the pros
