Boston Celtics dud: Josh Richardson

Like Dennis Schroder, Josh Richardson was an offseason acquisition by the Boston Celtics that came into the season with lofty expectations from the fanbase.

Unlike the veteran guard, however, Richardson’s efforts Sunday night didn’t wind up leaving such a great taste in the mouths of Cs fans or the coaching staff, as he was essentially a non-factor on both ends of the floor.

Playing in nearly 15 minutes of actions, the veteran finished with a final box score of two rebounds, one assist, and an abysmal zero points on 0-2 shooting from the field, both of which came from beyond the arc.

Known as a 3-and-D wing — something the Cs could desperately use backing the likes of Tatum and Brown on the depth chart — the 28-year-old has proven to be anything but that with Boston as he’s been rather inconsistent when trying to stay with his assignment/ playing help-side defense all season and, aside from his first game during their blowout loss to the Raptors, has struggled to convert from deep.

Moving forward, hopefully Richardson can find a way to find his rhythm and, in turn, stay consistently efficient but, Monday he wound up laying an egg with his performance.
