Boston Celtics: 3 steps Cs can take this summer to go all-in for 2021-22
Bring IT back
I know I’ve been rolling consistently with the 2018-present parallels with all of my suggestions, but comparing Isaiah Thomas to someone like Shane Larkin feels wrong.
Thomas is one of the greats in recent Cs history, and his run will forever be enshrined in the minds and hearts of Boston Celtics fans forever.
There’s been some smoke this offseason about a potential reunion with the team he rose to MVP contention with, and Thomas has continued to preach staying ready should the Celtics ever come calling.
That said, it has seemed in recent times that a Thomas reunion is far from a priority for the new front office. Then again, wouldn’t they want you to think that? No need to get other teams involved in the bidding for a dynamite scorer that is making claims he is as healthy now he’s been since those days.
Hardwood Houdini has longed for a return to Beantown for Thomas. It seems like the kind of closure fans and he himself deserves after the sloppy breakup they went through. Danny Ainge, the man that traded him, is no longer employed by the organization. The man that coached him is in charge of player movement and isn’t a stranger to bringing former Cs back.
Let’s hope the planets align because a full TD Garden combined with the return of the five-foot-nine messiah would make for a one-of-a-kind 2021-22 season.
