Boston Celtics scoring option #2: Davion Mitchell

If the Jazz decide to hold onto Donovan Mitchell even in spite of his continued frustration with being in Utah, the Boston Celtics could be in prime position to land a much cheaper (and obviously much less accomplished) version of the compact volume scorer.

Davion Mitchell, a projected first round pick in the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft, does a lot of the same things his #45 D-Mitchell professional counterpart on the floor, but doesn’t come with the burden of the potential $195 price tag the 2017 lottery pick does.

Davion Mitchell has struggled from the free-throw line in his college career, which began at Auburn and culminated in an NCAA National Championship this past March with Baylor, but he is perhaps an even deadlier sniper from deep than the Louisville product.

Mitchell is projected to fall in the late lottery even though logic dictates that his game may transfer better to the pros than many of the guys likely to be picked ahead of him. If he goes in the late teens as he is projected to, the Cs will have a very good chance of bringing the Baylor Bear to Beantown and giving the Cs their explosive third scorer.
