Boston Celtics trade target No. 2) Donovan Mitchell

Not just one of the best “young” guards but, rather, one of the best guards in the league PERIOD, Donovan Mitchell could find himself being the center of attention when it comes to trade speculations for the second consecutive season, and we at HH are here for it.

Recently, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that the star’s relationship with the team was “damaged” even further due to their handling of his ankle injury, as they went about and forced him to sit out Game 1 of their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Now, we’re not going about and saying that Mitchell and Utah are heading for a breakup this coming summer. That said, with Windhorst reporting that the star guard is “really hurting“, the trade rumor mill will undoubtedly be churning away in time should the Jazz not make a deep and impactful playoff run.

In the end, if this hypothetical ever winds up turning into a reality, and the 24-year-old winds up looking for an out from Salt Lake City, the Boston Celtics should strongly consider throwing everything they can in Utah’s direction.

Selected to his second consecutive All-Star game, the fourth-year pro managed to set new career-highs this year with 26.4 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game all while shooting nearly 39 percent from 3-point range and, due to his excellence, led the Jazz to the best record in the league at 52-20.

An unquestionable franchise building block who can excel on both ends of the ball and has proven capable of leading his respective ball club to great heights, any deal involving Donovan Mitchell will cost the Cs a ton and then some — in other words, it’ll almost certainly cost them Jaylen Brown.

While I, personally, love Boston’s All-Star wing, in order to get some, you have to give some and, should Ainge share the same mindset as Cedric Maxwell, who believes that trading Brown may be necessary to get back into the title-contention category, exchanging him for a guy like Mitchell may turn into an idea worth strong consideration.
