Star Boston Celtics should monitor No. 2) Bradley Beal

Unlike the Boston Celtics, the Washington Wizards have actually managed to turn things up a bit as of late after starting out the year poorly, going 10-2 over their last 12 outings.

Unfortunately, however, Washington’s chances of vying for championship contention appear to be even less bleak than those of the Cs, as they currently find themselves residing in the 10th seed in the conference standings at 27-34, with their only shot at playoff action likely coming through the newly established play-in tournament format.

Two years now separate the Wizards’ last days in the playoffs and, with every passing day, it feels more and more likely that, should another missed postseason or first-round exit come about, the team’s front office will call it quits on their core and set sail for a full-fledged rebuild.

Should this happen, of course shooting guard Bradley Beal will be a hot commodity on the trade market — as he has been for the past few offseasons now — and, as has been rumored over the past several weeks, the Boston Celtics could realistically make a play for the All-Star.

From a talent standpoint alone, adding the 28-year-old to the team’s core would be a fantastic move for, like it or not, star power is the name of the modern game.

On the season, the talented wing is finding himself stuffing the stat sheet with a league-leading 31.4 points to go along with 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game on 49 percent shooting from the floor and 35 percent shooting from deep.

Aside from a talent standpoint, targeting Beal in a trade would also seem to make a ton of sense on a personal/ emotional level, for he has a relationship with current Boston Celtics cornerstone, Jayson Tatum, that dates back to their upbringings in St Louis.

Keeping their prized commodity happy after such a difficult and disappointing season should be priority number one for Danny Ainge this coming offseason, and perhaps bringing in someone that views their 23-year-old star as a “brother” could do exactly that.

3 Cs most likely to be traded this summer. dark. Next
