Star Boston Celtics should monitor No. 1) Karl-Anthony Towns

Last week, the not-so-shocking news broke that the Minnesota Timberwolves were officially eliminated from postseason contention, thus making it the third-straight season and 16th time over the last 17 years where they miss out on attaining a berth.

After acquiring point guard, D’Angelo Russell, at last year’s trade deadline, the future started to look up for the T-Wolves, for the idea was, once he and franchise cornerstone, Karl-Anthony Towns, had an offseason to build on-court chemistry, they’d be well on their way back to respectability.

Add in the fact that they also managed to land the No. 1 overall pick in this past draft in Anthony Edwards and there was actual excitement heading into this campaign.

Now, fast forward a few months later and that feeling of hope has all but disintegrated into ash as, through 63 games played, Minnestoa finds themselves with the third-worst record in the entire association at 19-44.

To make matters even worse, buzz has already begun to surface suggesting that the team’s front office could find themselves inclined to hit the reset button and, in turn, make their once-promising dynamic duo of Russell and Towns attainable trade assets.

Should this happen, by all means necessary, the Boston Celtics should pick up the phone and dial up the team’s 612 area code.

We’ve been big on the idea for quite some time that bringing on the All-Star center would be a great move for both parties, as it would shore up the weakest position within the rotation for the Cs while giving Towns a franchise that knows a thing or two about winning.

Still just 25-years-old’s old, the star big man fits the timeline that both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are on while also giving the team as a whole one of, if not the most talented center in the entire league to compete with the other juggernauts at the position out East in Joel Embiid and Bam Adebayo.

Despite logging minutes for the lowly Wolves, KAT is posting stellar per-game averages of 24.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 blocks on 49 percent shooting from the floor and 39 percent shooting from deep.

Should Boston wish to upgrade at center this coming offseason, Karl-Anthony Towns should be their number one target by a landslide.
