Way to turn season around No. 3) Evan Fournier must pan out

Like we said already, the NBA trade deadline was heavily focused on how the Boston Celtics could look to trade for a big man, with the likes of Orlando’s dynamic duo down low in Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon being often found atop their rumored wish list.

Ultimately, the Cs did wind up getting a deal done with the Magic but not for any of these aforementioned bigs. Instead, they opted to bring on the likes of the sharpshooting veteran, Evan Fournier.

Now, were we a bit underwhelmed by the transaction? Yes.

That said, to say Boston didn’t get a solid player in the deal would be quite a farce.

Through 26 games prior to coming to Beantown, the 28-year-old wing was finding himself posting impressive averages of 19.7 points, 3.7 assists, 2.9 boards, and a steal per game on 46 percent shooting from the floor and 39 percent shooting from deep.

Unfortunately, Fournier’s debut with the team this past Monday was something that many hope will simply be a one-off blunder, finishing with zero points on 0-10 shooting from the field and 0-5 shooting from deep.

If he can manage to look like his Orlando self heading into the playoffs, he might just be that needed piece to help improve their sour offense that ranks a pedestrian 16th in points and 19th in 3-point attempts.

If not, however, prepare for more disappointing defeats like the one they endured against the New Orleans Pelicans and louder pleads for the dismissal of Danny Ainge.

3 stars the Cs could realistically go after this offseason. dark. Next
