Boston Celtics trade target No. 3) Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball is a guy we at the Houdini have been pleading with Danny Ainge and co. to pursue for quite some time now and, frankly, we just can’t get over the idea that he could be the perfect point guard for a rotation already consisting of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Sure, the consensus vote across the media landscape is that this Boston Celtics team should look into frontcourt depth and, more specifically, a big man to slot into the starting lineup.

However, with the recent emergence of the always hyped up Robert Williams III — averaging 11.8 points, seven boards, and 3.1 blocks on 76 percent shooting this month –, perhaps their best course of action would be to simply slot him into the starting lineup and, at the deadline, look into acquiring more playmakers.

Should this route be embarked upon, the 23-year-old Ball would be the perfect guy to target in our eyes.

Currently in the midst of a solid all-around season, the do-it-all point guard is posting per-game averages of 14.2 points, 5.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and just over half a block on 43 percent shooting from the floor and 39 percent shooting from deep.

Not only would his pass-first/defensive-oriented playstyle be an absolute luxury for this Cs team, but Ball all fits the timeline that Boston’s core is currently on, thus making him a potential long-term asset to have moving forward.

A player in possession of the ‘highest basketball IQ’ according to Magic Johnson — someone who knows a thing or two about on-court intelligence –, Lonzo Ball must be considered a realistic trade option and we here at the Houdini believe he’d do wonders in Boston.
