Boston Celtics morale-boosting target #1: Rajon Rondo

Rajon Rondo is a hot name in Boston Celtics circles right now because of the recent chatter from a former teammate of his, Kendrick Perkins:

According to Perk, Rondo isn’t a good match with the Hawks and given their goals and where the point guard is in his career…he may be onto something.

Atlanta has Trae Young manning the point guard spot, which isn’t a reason why Rondo isn’t catching on this season. The former Celtic was able to cede the ball to LeBron James during the 2020 postseason, and a championship resulted.

Perhaps Rondo thought joining the Hawks would mean he was closer to contention than reality currently dictates. Atlanta is 14-19 and destined for another lottery finish if they don’t make a move.

Perhaps a deal with the Boston Celtics is what the doctor ordered. For Cs fans, having a championship point guard return to the franchise he flourished on the season after helping to deliver a title to the Los Angeles Lakers could be the remedy to the pandemic blues Boston fans are singing.
