Boston Celtics target #3: Jaren Jackson Jr.

Boston Celtics fans that are both hoping to upgrade in the frontcourt and patient should love the idea of Jaren Jackson Jr. in green and white.

Apparently, Jackson may love the idea as well (via Yahoo’s Darren Hartwell):

"After the Grizzlies gave up 144 points in a loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night — their sixth defeat in eight games — Jackson did some venting on social media. Sensing Jackson’s frustration, one Twitter user responded telling the young big man to come to the Boston Celtics. And wouldn’t you know it, Jackson liked the tweet. Does this mean anything? Probably not. Is Jackson hopping on the next flight to Logan Airport? Doubtful."

Social media activity could often lead to a real-life transaction, as players oftentimes telegraph trades with removing their team affiliations in their Twitter bio.

This isn’t what happened here, though. Jackson simply liked a fan showing some love, even if the said fan had a Celtics affiliation.

Regardless of what his intentions were here, Jackson is a legitimate stretch-four (39% 3-point shooting on over six attempts per game) that could fit in well as a traditional power forward in a Cs lineup that could use one.

Prying him away from the Grizzlies would be a lot easier if they were fighting for their postseason lives and wanted to throw a godfather offer to Boston for Smart as well.
