Why the Boston Celtics do it

Joe Harris is an ideal fit in the Boston Celtics lineup for many reasons. An unselfish gunner, Harris has the ability to run the fastbreak and finish in transition, but his greatest strengths lie in his incredible shooting numbers.

Harris hasn’t shot below 42% from beyond the arc in any of the last 3 seasons. In 2018-19, he somehow shot 47% with D’Angelo Russell as the focal point of the offense. With Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown absorbing most of the attention–and being more willing to share than what Harris left behind–Harris would feast in green and white off the bench or starting on the wing.

Why the Brooklyn Nets do it

Like the last deal, Brooklyn ends up with the Theis-Bertans duo. They’d be giving up a few more role players in this deal, but the Nets figure to be players in the buyout market anyway.

Why the Washington Wizards do it

Washington is all but out of contention already in the Eastern Conference, and their best bet would be to sell their pieces (like Bradley Beal) and look to the future. Picking up a late first-rounder from the Boston Celtics likely won’t set up their future, but it’s the possible beginning of a mindset shift for the Wizards.
