Player Boston Celtics should avoid No. 2) George Hill, PG, OKC Thunder

Seemingly every morning, Boston Celtics fans wake up to an article discussing how veteran point guard George Hill would be a fantastic acquisition for the team, with Bleacher Report going as far as to say it would be the ‘ideal trade’ for Ainge to make.

Though we’ve recently only been reporting on the idea made by various different verticals, earlier this week we finally broke loose with our own opinion on the matter, citing that while the 34-year-old has attributes that can be beneficial to a team, his addition could easily wind up becoming both redundant as well as perhaps negative in regard to the taking away playing time from one of the team’s most impressive youngsters:

"We get it — the man is a sound veteran presence with ample experience in this league and could provide the team with another proven floor general. However, should Ainge actually pull the trigger on such a move, it would, in turn, make the Jeff Teague signing from this offseason somewhat irrelevant and redundant — for both provide similar attributes and have about the same level of postseason experience — and, perhaps more important, would take away meaningful minutes from rookie Payton Pritchard, who is currently playing himself into 2020 draft steal territory."

Once Kemba Walker comes back, Brad Stevens will have the likes of Marcus Smart, Teague, and Pritchard all vying for time at the one. Adding Hill would simply complicate minutes distributions.

Perhaps the logic is trying to fill dead space on the roster but adding the veteran floor general should not be seen as the way to go about this.
