Shooter to target No. 1: Kira Lewis Jr.

Ok, so Kira Lewis Jr.’s inclusion on this list tends to two roles the Boston Celtics desperately need to address: offensive production off the pine and bolstering of the backup point guard position.

Since declaring for the NBA Draft back in late March, the 19-year-old’s stock has risen quite rapidly, and his talents have caught the attention of various front offices around the league. Still, even with this, he is very much in play for the shamrocks to select him with one of their three — likely the two lower ones — first-round picks.

Coming into the draft, Lewis Jr. finds himself boasting sophomore season averages of 18.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals on 46 percent shooting from the floor and 37 percent shooting from deep on 4.9 attempts per contest.

With his body type (6-3, 165 pounds) Lewis Jr. possesses the ideal frame for an NBA point guard. Proving to be a quick talent who loves to push the pace in transition, attack the rim, find his teammates for easy looks, and to be great at pick-pocketing his opponents while on defense, he seems to have the skills that could translate nicely to the next level as well.

Showcasing a solid shooting stroke, decision making with his shot, and an ability to thrive in catch and shoot scenarios, a guy of Kira Lewis Jr.’s skillset could easily thrive in Brad Stevens’ point guard friendly scheme.
