2) D.J. Augustin, PG

Throughout the year, we’ve certainly discussed often the weaknesses within the Boston Celtics’ rotation. From their bench perimeter scoring — hence why this article exists — to their lackadaisical frontcourt depth, the shamrocks will likely look to fill some of their holes during the upcoming offseason.

Perhaps one of the most talked-about issues the team has faced throughout the 2019-20 season has been the production from their backup point guard position.

A guy like D.J. Augustin would be both a great perimeter shooting presence within this C’s rotation as well as a suitable replacement for Brad Wanamaker as Kemba Walker’s primary stand-in.

The 33-year-old has made a career for himself as a productive backup one-guard for all eight of the franchises he’s logged minutes for.

Currently, with the Orlando Magic, Augustin finds himself averaging 10.4 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.2 rebounds on 41 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent shooting from downtown.

With the impressive capability of finding his teammates for solid looks at a bucket, while also buying one for himself with possession or while working off-ball — shot 44 percent on catch and shoot attempts — Augustin’s style of play would fit Brad Stevens’ scheme quit well and would certainly aid in Boston’s attempt to improve their weak scoring prowess off the pine come the 2020-21 campaign.
