Potential transaction-window casualty No. 1: Vincent Poirier, C

Perhaps one of the most underwhelming performers from the 2019-20 season for the Boston Celtics, Vincent Poirier‘s inclusion on this list should have easily been expected.

When initially signed last offseason, many fans and experts were excited about what the Frenchman could potentially bring to this recently depleted center rotation. It was believed that the 7-0 big had what it took to transition his skills to the NBA game and, thus, help bolster the team’s frontcourt for what many expected to be a successful season.

Now, after 64 games it’s apparent that, despite the hope for a successful year for the Celtics as a whole coming true, the hope for a solid first-year showing by the 26-year-old certainly did not.

Seeing action in just 21 games with the team, Poirier averaged a mere 5.4 minutes to go along with a stat line of 1.9 points and 1.6 rebounds per game.

It’s easy to think that a player like Poirier could lose his spot on the roster during a transaction period such as this, what with the way he’s produced. The only caveat is, he’s under contract through next season as well and, thus, should not be seen as a player who could be dropped off the roster.

A way to bypass this, however, is to simply slide him all the way to the end of the bench and utilize one of the additional two roster spots that have been granted for all bubble teams and, in turn, give any potential garbage time minutes to our pick for a G-League call-up in the 7-5 messiah Tacko Fall.
