Coronavirus: 2 ways the NBA’s suspension could actually benefit the Boston Celtics
Time to heal from nagging injuries
In recent weeks, the Boston Celtics have been dealing with various injuries to their starters and that, in turn, has revealed a lot about the depth (or lack thereof) of the team. In one particularly painful loss to the Brooklyn Nets last week, both Jaylen Brown and Gordon Hayward went down with different injuries.
The road was going to be tough for the C’s moving forward had COVID-19 not wiped out the entire schedule. They weren’t getting healthier, as Kemba Walker left the final game of the season (for now) in this past Tuesday’s win against Indiana with an apparent hand injury.
Now, the team will have at least a month until they have to return to action. It’s unclear how much time Walker would have missed, but he will now be more available for the season’s final push, whenever that may be.
Brown and Hayward will most assuredly be at full health by the time the season resumes. Hayward was dominant in the final game (for now) of the 2019-20 campaign. Brown wasn’t expected to miss many more games from a hamstring issue.
Now, it is known that the team will be able to recover. Few teams have dealt with as many injuries to their entire starting lineup. Finally, the C’s get a reprieve.
