Alec Burks

Alec Burks would make a whole lot of sense on the Boston Celtics bench, given the lack of scoring punch the C’s possess (or rather, are missing). Burks is averaging a career-high 15.8 points per game. Obviously, serving as the #2 option on a Golden State team is inflating his output.

He isn’t nearly the impact player Gordon Hayward is for the Celtics, despite being with a point and a half in scoring output in 2019-20. That said, he is making the most of his opportunity.

Averaging 40 percent from the field in a career-most 12.5 shots per game, Burks is a fine wing that is probably best suited for a bench role. Obviously, his one year being a top option isn’t going swimmingly.

Then again, that was never the plan. This is, again, the upside down in San Francisco. Things will be on the right side up next season though. That could be partially because of dealing Burks for future assets.

The Boston Celtics shouldn’t give up much to acquire Burks. Multiple second rounders could be the breaking point in trade talks. Burks shouldn’t warrant parting with a first round draft pick, despite his scoring punch.

If a bidding war gets out of hand, that may be the price. Burks in tandem with other assets could be worth considering for that price.
