Last night, the Boston Celtics had no problems dispatching the Cleveland Cavaliers, sending the hapless team that allowed LeBron
James to leave town for South Beach to it s fifth straight loss.
The Celtics never trailed in this game, as they thoroughly dominated the first quarter to the tune of a 18-2 run to start the quarter and a 28-10 lead when the first twelve minutes were in the books. The Cavs never got closer than 10 the rest of the way, thanks to a superb team effort by the Celts, some red-hot shooting, and a stout defense that limited Cleveland to 37% shooting on the evening.
For the second time this season, the Cs saw all five of their starters score in double figures, led by Jeff Green’s 31, a season high. Avery Bradley had the most efficient game for Boston, going 9-11 from regular distance and 3-4 from the behind the arc, en route to his 21 points. Brandon Bass cored 12 and played tough D, as always, while Jared Sullinger also scored 12 points – all on three point shots! And then we have Jordan Crawford, who only scored 11 . . . but registered a triple double on the evening.
The contributions didn’t stop once the players on the bench took the floor, however, as Vitor Faverani grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots, and Kris Humphries scored 9 points in his limited action. Last night’s W was about as perfect an example of a “team” win as you can find in the NBA.
