Whether you agree with their moves or not, the Boston Celtics are among the teams whose offseason begs the question, "What exactly are they doing?" However, if it's any consolation, they are not alone. The Golden State Warriors' decision-making has also come under heavy fire, if not heavier.
LeBron James choosing the Philadelphia 76ers meant the Warriors didn't get him, which basically means they are running back the same squad. It was heavily debated as to whether prying Anthony Davis away from Washington would have convinced James to play for them. In any case, this is trouble because time is running out in the Stephen Curry era in the Bay Area.
If the two sides are on the outs, Sports Illustrated's John Karalis outlined a deal between the Celtics and the Warriors if Curry wants out. He proposed the following trade.
Celtics get: Curry
Warriors get: Paul George, Sam Hauser, the draft assets they received from the Sixers
This made the rounds the other day, with aggregators making it sound like Karalis was reporting that the Celtics made an offer for Curry, but he had to clarify that this is pure speculation.

There hasn't been any intel suggesting Curry is available, and if he were, getting him to Boston would require him specifically requesting there.
But make no mistake, Curry in Boston would be awesome
We always talk about how amazing LeBron James has been in defying Father Time, but Curry is cut from the same cloth. He probably won't win another MVP, but if the bar for him is set at being Jayson Tatum's right-hand man, the Celtics would be in fantastic hands.
Curry is arguably the greatest shooter to ever play in the NBA, rivaling that of, ironically enough, Celtics legend Larry Bird. He still has so much gravity as a player that he would make life so much easier for Tatum no matter where he is.
Defensively, he's never been exactly fantastic, but the supernova player that he is has always outweighed that ever since he hit his prime. Curry and the Warriors have a storied history with the Celtics before Tatum even got there, but despite the history, Boston would welcome the two-time MVP with open arms without thinking twice.
And if that's all the Celtics would have to give up to get him, they would take it immediately because he would vault them up to title contenders. Not to mention, he would fit perfectly in Mazzulla ball like a glove.
The window wouldn't be for long, but that's the kind of move you make to keep yourself in title contention. Boston understands this, no matter what conclusion anyone comes to from the Jaylen Brown trade, and Golden State once did.
It's kind of a shame that they don't now.
