Whoever designed the Celtics' latest uniform needs to be jailed if leak is true

No one has it worse than me. All of my begs and pleas for improvement from Nike as it pertains to their Boston Celtics uniform production have fallen on deaf ears, it seems. The latest leak of what is supposedly going to be the Celtics’ Christmas Day uniform next season has me absolutely sick.

An exclusive from Basketball Jersey Archive shares what is believed to be the first look at the absolute monstrosity that is the 2026 Christmas jersey.

The leak showcases a black-based top with a hint of a green aurora-type shamrock design on the jersey’s left side. If you have a magnifying glass, you can spot the “BOSTON” text positioned directly above the number on the chest of the jersey. Both the font and number are black with a white outline.

I’m truly not sure if they could’ve legally made the text any smaller.

The neck and arm holes feature a two-tone black and white stripe.

Oh, and of course, Nike wants to make sure you know they made this uniform, for whatever reason. They plastered their big dumb swoosh logo above the undersized “BOSTON” text to remind you in case you forgot it was them.

Nike only half listened to what fans wanted

There is some level of, “Nike deserves credit for listening to the people.” Because, well, they did. NBA fans have long been asking for the return of Christmas Day uniforms -- a staple of the holiday up until Nike took over as the league’s equipment partner in 2017.

The difference?

Those nostalgic uniforms didn’t look like something you’d win at Six Flags, with a generic color scheme to match the city name, which is used to avoid any copyright infringement. Instead, they were simple, yet different.

The old Christmas uniforms mirrored each team’s regular scheme, with festive texts and numbers to add some extra flair.

I guess the Northern Lights type of design kind of adds a Christmas flair, but there are so many better things they could’ve done. What about just doing the old ones? What about making it look like a Christmas sweater? What if they added snowflakes to the design somehow?

Anytime Nike releases a new design, it always stings a bit more knowing that Pete Rogers designed 130+ alternate Celtics uniforms when he was dropping mockups for every win.

There’s plenty more like the above that Nike could’ve paid him to use. He’s consistently been better than whatever garbage they’ve pumped out each year.
