The Boston Red Sox's historic win streak ended last night at 15 games. All good things come to an end, but ironically enough, this Red Sox season is suddenly back on track, and they've suddenly become the most exciting team in baseball. If there's one team that knows how they feel, it's their hometown neighbor, the Boston Celtics.
Many forget that there was a time when things looked pretty bleak for Boston. The 2021-22 season was full of twists and turns, where things swerved so badly to the left that the Celtics were the No. 11 seed for a good chunk of January. Then came the iconic "The energy is about to shift" tweet from the departed but not forgotten Jaylen Brown.

Like the Red Sox, the Celtics licked their wounds, got rid of the pieces that clearly weren't working, got healthier, tried a few different things, and before you know it, they went from the No. 11 seed in January to the No. 2 seed at season's end, all culminating in their first NBA Finals berth in 12 years.
No one's saying the Red Sox will meet a similar fate, but it is amazing to think that a World Series suddenly went from a laughably dumb fantasy to a legitimate possibility in such a short time. It's miraculous runs like these that prove not to lose hope and that it's a long season.
Knock on wood that the Red Sox will only continue to strike while the iron is hot, but typically when teams turn their seasons around the way the Red Sox just did and the Celtics did in 2022, it means the tides truly are turning in their favor, pending any unforeseen surprises.
Could history repeat itself this season for the Celtics?
The Celtics' vision has actually become clearer for the Celtics with the moves they've made, but that doesn't mean the roster they've constructed will work from the jump. Paul George and Mitchell Robinson are quality players who could raise Boston's ceiling, but they come with questions.
There's a strong possibility that those guys may be hurt for either a long period or multiple short periods. Do keep in mind that while many remember the Celtics team from four years ago struggled quite a bit, much of that was because they weren't healthy, as COVID-19 was still at large.
There will probably be some growing pains for Jayson Tatum and Joe Mazzulla, as even if Boston believes they can survive Brown's absence, there's no denying the kind of role Brown not only had but embraced with the team and how much they will ask the roster to make up for it.
It may in fact perhaps be this Red Sox team that will convince Celtics fans to hang in there, as painful as it could be. If this Red Sox team could get their season back on track, well, in the words of Celtics legend Kevin Garnett:
We're getting ahead of ourselves here, as this could work from the start, but the Red Sox are a good example of why you shouldn't lose hope no matter how bad things get.
