Do you remember? Forgotten Boston Celtics of the last decade
Jameer Nelson
A decade ago, the NBA was so bizarre that Jameer Nelson was a central figure in the Rajon Rondo trade. The small, crafty guard who could light it up from beyond the arc is best known as Dwight Howard's sidekick in Orlando during their run of prominence at the tail end of the 2000s. By 2014, Nelson had signed with the Dallas Mavericks and shared a backcourt with fellow undersized guard Monta Ellis.
Predictably, that pairing was a disaster defensively. Over in Boston, Rondo was the lone star from the 2008 title team and the face of the marquee. With the Mavs searching for Dirk Nowitzki's next co-star and Boston continuing their youth movement, the sides struck a deal, which included swapping their PGs.
Nelson had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it spell in green. He appeared in only six games, shooting an impressive 22% from the field and racking up a meager 29 points. A few weeks later, they shipped Nelson off to the Denver Nuggets for old friend Nate Robinson, who was promptly waived on arrival.
