The Boston Celtics are heavily favored on the road against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, but there’s still plenty of reasons to consider betting on Boston.

Kristaps Porzingis and Derrick White are listed as out for this game, but the C’s could be facing a shorthanded Washington team that lost by 29 points to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.

The C’s started slow as road favorites, but they’ve worked themselves back to .500 on the season in that spot. Can that positive trend continue in Washington?

Celtics vs. Wizards key players to watch

Boston Celtics

Jayson Tatum: Tatum has been on fire as of late, scoring 26 or more points in four straight games, including a 38-point showing against Utah when Boston was down multiple players. Tatum may need to turn on his scoring a little more against Washington with two starters out.

Washington Wizards

Kyle Kuzma: After posting 10 straight games with 20 or more points, Kuzma was held to just 11 points (5-of-10 shooting) in a blowout loss to Chicago on Saturday. Kuz had just 17 points in his last meeting against Boston. The Wizards need him to carry the offense if they want a chance to pull off the upset.

Celtics vs. Wizards prediction and pick

This game is Boston or nothing for me.

The Wizards are struggling mightily as of late, losing eight of their last 10 games, including three straight, and the team is brutal this season as a home underdog.

In 25 games as a home dog, the Wizards are a terrible 8-17 against the spread, including a 19-point loss to Boston early in the season.

The Celtics started off really slow as road favorites, but they’ve covered in five of their last eight games in that spot – including three straight.

As long as Tatum and Brown play, Boston should dominate a Wizards team that ranks dead last in the NBA in defensive rating and 29th in net rating.
