Brad Stevens didn't reveal too much in his answer to a question about whether the Boston Celtics would bring Oshae Brissett back in free agency to the 15th and final roster spot. Instead, he spoke to the positives of Brissett's one-year run in Boston (thus far?) but said he wouldn't have much of a role if he returned.

“We have to be mindful of, with the last roster spot, what our needs might be," Stevens said (h/t CelticsBlog's Noa Dalzell). "Oshae had a terrific year with us… in his shoes, there might be the desire to play more, too. I always want to be respectful of that.”

In terms of continuity, Stevens has done everything to maintain it this offseason; handing out massive extensions to Jayson Tatum and Derrick White and bringing back Xavier Tillman, Luke Kornet, and Neemias Queta. He already showed signs of being content with his contender when he extended Kristaps Porzingis before the season and Jrue Holiday before the playoffs.

Bringing Brissett back makes sense, but only if No. 12 accepts that the 2024 NBA draft's No. 30 pick, Baylor Scheierman, and the C's 2023 second-rounder Jordan Walsh, may take precedence over him at times. Brissett's social media content was a part of the 2023-24 team's culture.

Championship content he provided. That's always welcomed back.

Boston Celtics better off bringing someone back than looking for veteran

For years, the Celtics had tried the wily veteran route for their bench, and in truth, it often didn't pan out. Tristan Thompson and Dennis Schroder were the most notable gaffes that contributed to holding back 2020-21 and first half of the 2021-22 season. At least the latter recovered by the 2022 trade deadline with Daniel Theis's return.

At this point, it's the last thing the Cs should think about doing.

Instead, bringing back either Brissett or Svi Mykhailiuk is all that's needed -- since the narrative right now is that front offices need to assemble Superteams to stop the Celtics.
