On February 13, ahead of a matchup with the Brooklyn Nets, Jayson Tatum appeared on CBS Morning News. Tatum announced a $1 million partnership to promote financial literacy for low-income families through The Jayson Tatum Foundation. It’s another incredible milestone for Tatum to be able to give back to the next generation.

Tatum’s contributions join a long list of positives that he and teammate Jaylen Brown have had on Boston and their local communities. Ultimately, the duo embodies what it means to carry the weight and burden of not only a franchise but a community.

The humble nature of Tatum is remarkable, given he is not even in his 30s yet. A big reason why Tatum wanted to start the partnership, which will help single-parent families, is because he grew up struggling with a single parent.

Tatum highlighted that when he was younger, he and his mom were living paycheck to paycheck. It's remarkable to see Tatum give back to kids and parents who are going through the same thing he went through.

Not every professional athlete goes out of their way to have this big of an impact on their community or the next generation. It takes a truly special person to contribute what Tatum and Brown have to the community.

Jaylen Brown has also been a leader on and off the court for Boston Celtics

Brown has also done great work in the community, especially for the Black community. Recently, Brown visited the Massachusetts State House to promote legislation that would improve the juvenile justice system. The contributions that Brown and Tatum have made highlight their character and how they view basketball as more than a game.

Celtics fans should be grateful to have two All-NBA caliber players who are such great role models and leaders. We are witnessing not only greatness on the court but greatness in the local communities.

Appreciate it Celtics fans, this does not happen all the time with every franchise. Far from it.
