David Ortiz makes outrageous prediction for Celtics MVP winner next year

Raising Cane’s turned the city gold on Wednesday. They opened up a new, all-gold location downtown, launching golden confetti into the sky as Rhode Island native JVKE performed his hit song, “Golden Hour,” with two legends listening in: Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz and Boston Celtics champion Jrue Holiday.
All three were in attendance, alongside founder Todd Graves, to help give the new all-gold location a perfect start. Ortiz and Holiday have both won titles in Boston, and the latter will be looking to go back-to-back next season.
Ortiz thinks they will.
“Of course, the Celtics are gonna repeat,” Ortiz said when asked for a prediction about next year’s champion. “Without a doubt.”
David Ortiz jokingly picks Jrue Holiday to win MVP next season
He also made a hilariously outrageous prediction for NBA MVP.
“And I gotta go with my boy right here,” Ortiz said with a smile, nudging Holiday.
Holiday’s eyes opened as he cracked a huge smile, shaking his head at Ortiz’s prediction.
Obviously, Holiday’s role with the Celtics won’t put him in a position to win MVP next season, but he’ll still be a crucial cog in their machine. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the heads of the snake, but guys like Holiday, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford keep the train running smoothly.
Ortiz was at a bunch of Celtics games throughout the 2023-24 season, and he even got to experience one of the most electrifying postseason moments in person—Jaylen Brown’s game-tying shot in Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers.
“Very happy for the Celtics. Very happy for my boy,” Ortiz said, motioning to Holiday. “I mean, the playoffs were amazing. I got to go to the court to watch that game where Brown hit that three-pointer, and they went to overtime. That place was gonna- That place got loud.”
With Holiday, his wild MVP pick, next to him, Ortiz and company enjoyed a successful launch day at Cane’s. People were lined up outside, peeking in the windows, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Boston legends inside the store as they waited for their chance to get some chicken.
And once the golden confetti settled, they did just that.
