It's amazing to think that it's almost been 13 years since Paul Pierce last played for the Boston Celtics. Even so, the fans remember him quite fondly, and for good reason. Not only did he help restore the franchise's legendary status, but he also loved being a Celtic, and all that that implied, and fans let him know that the feeling was mutual.
Many forget that the Celtics earnestly tried to bring him back two years after they traded him, and luckily, he went on to retire a Celtic. All these years later, the love between Pierce and the Celtics has never waned.
Earlier today, the Celtics hosted a three-point competition between four alumni, including Pierce, Brian Scalabrine, Leon Powe, and Evan Turner. Pierce went on to win (makes sense as he was one of the league's most feared three-point shooters in his prime), and he celebrated the win by mocking two of the most iconic celebratory quotes in Celtics history.

Any Celtics fan who has been watching for only a few years now know what that first joke was in reference to.
(While that's what the fans and haters remember, Jayson Tatum's better quote after Banner 18 was more "What they gonna say now?!"
That second one might be a little obscure for the younger fans, as the ones who have been watching since the turn of the new millennium will be more familiar, as Kevin Garnett screamed it when they won the title in 2008.
This only further proves Pierce's undying loyalty to the Celtics
Not that such a notion was ever in doubt, but Pierce taking some hilarious jabs at both his former teammate and the Celtics' current alpha dog only shows how much he still bleeds green after all these years.
Pierce and Garnett do their own show together, hence showing their strong rapport over 10 years after they were last NBA teammates. Not only have the two of them talked to Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but Pierce has also shown up at many Celtics games to support them when given the opportunity. It's clear that the two of them have shared a special connection for some time.
Hence, times like these are as touching as they are hilarious. Pierce definitely does not have the memory of a goldfish, and he will definitely demonstrate his love for the Celtics franchise every chance he gets.
Here's to hoping that years from now, Tatum and Brown will feel the same way as Pierce does regardless of whether they spend their entire careers in Boston or not.
