Lonnie Walker IV didn’t stick with the Boston Celtics. They brought him in for training camp and the preseason prior to the 2024-25 campaign, but he didn’t end up making the final roster. After that, he went overseas to Lithuania before earning another shot in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, this year, he once again found himself on the outside looking in for an NBA contract. Now, he’s playing international ball with a new club. This season, Walker is suiting up for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, where he competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League and the EuroLeague.

And things are going very, very well.

Lonnie Walker IV has become a star in Europe

Walker got off to a slow start in his first season of overseas ball last year. But in his second go-around, he’s really making the most of the scoring talent that has earned him so many looks at the NBA level.

So far this year, during the 2025-26 campaign, Walker has appeared in 22 games for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. He’s started in 20 of those 22 games and is playing 22.6 minutes per contest.

Walker is averaging 15.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals while shooting 43.2% from the floor and 37.5% from beyond the arc on 6.9 three-point attempts per game.

At first glance, those are impressive numbers. Not only is Walker one of the leaders on his own team, but he’s also been one of the best players throughout all of the EuroLeague. Walker is leading his entire team in points per game, acting as their primary option.

As far as his standing in the EuroLeague, his stature in that regard is perhaps even more impressive. Walker is the 11th-leading scorer in EuroLeague games so far this season.

That makes him one of the top stars in Europe right now, and he’s doing it while leading a team full of other NBA talent.

Walker isn’t the only former NBA player suiting up for Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv this season. He’s not even the only former Celtics player on their roster.

Oshae Brissett, who won an NBA Championship in Boston in 2024, is also on the team. Alongside the two former Celtics are Jaylen Hoard, TJ Leaf, and Jeff Dowtin, all of whom spent some time in the association.

Walker may not have found a home with the Celtics, but since his chance in Boston, he’s settled in as one of the top guys in Europe.
