Former Boston Celtics forward Oshae Brissett, who won an NBA Championship with the team in 2024, has moved on to international basketball. Last year, Brissett spent some time in the G League with the Long Island Nets, and he also played six games with the Philadelphia 76ers toward the end of the season.
However, after not getting an NBA contract this past summer, Brissett decided to head overseas, inking a deal with Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv in Israel for the 2025-26 campaign. He’s been playing heavy minutes for the club, though his efficiency hasn’t been ideal, and the team is only 3-10 in EuroLeague play.
Still, Brissett has begun a new journey in his basketball career.
How is Oshae Brissett playing?
Though Brissett isn’t shooting very well with his new team, he’s still playing a ton of minutes. In fact, he’s playing the 27th-most minutes of any player competing in the EuroLeague, right below guys like Juancho Hernangomez and Isaac Bonga.
Brissett is playing the second-most minutes (26.0) at Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, behind only Jaylen Hoard. Lonnie Walker IV, who spent some time in Boston during training camp last year, is also on the team with Brissett. He’s playing 23.0 minutes per game.
In his 17 appearances with Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv this season (across three different competitions), Brissett has averaged 8.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 0.8 assists, and 0.8 steals while shooting 35.6% from the floor and 31.1% from behind the arc on 2.6 three-point attempts per contest.
Brissett’s efficiency has been at its best in the EuroLeague, where he’s appeared in 12 games. He has shot 404.7% from the field and 31.3% from deep range.
When he was in the NBA, Brissett’s inability to consistently knock down jumpers certainly held him back from being a constant face in NBA rotations, though he did manage to carve out a decent role with the Indiana Pacers for a few years.
His rebounding and knack for off-ball cutting were useful tools while with the Celtics, even though he wasn’t a staple of their rotation during the title year.
Brissett had a player option with Boston for the 2024-25 season, but he chose to decline it, presumably because he believed he could garner better offers in free agency.
Ultimately, that did not come to fruition, and he had to find his way through the G League before ending up on the international scene for the 2025-26 campaign.
