The Boston Celtics are entering the home stretch of their season. They only have a few games left in the regular season before the playoffs begin, but they’ve run into a bit of a problem. In their win over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night, Jayson Tatum sprained his ankle landing on Domantas Sabonis’ foot after a three-point attempt.

Though the Celtics star reentered the game to shoot free throws, he did not return to action past that. Tatum is listed as “doubtful” to play for the Celtics’ game against the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, which is great news, considering how bad the injury looked.

Plus, Tatum himself gave Celtics fans some great news.

Jayson Tatum said that he's 'feeling good' after ankle injury

During an appearance on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Tatum provided an update on his ankle injury, as the interview was shortly after the Celtics’ game in Sacramento.

“I’m feeling good, man,” Tatum said with a smile. “There’s a few benefits to being 27. You recover a little bit faster. I’ll be alright.”

Ankle sprains are no laughing matter. Obviously, it will take Tatum some time to fully recover, but from the sounds of it, he doesn’t feel too bad. He already seems to be in pretty good spirits, despite the incident.

Hearing Tatum himself reveal that he’s feeling fine should be a huge sigh of relief for Celtics fans (and the Celtics themselves).

On top of that information, right after the game in which Tatum sprained his ankle, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN spoke to the Celtics star. Even then, he said he was relatively okay:

“Jayson Tatum seems to have escaped serious injury after turning his left ankle landing on Sabonis’ foot while shooting a 3 Monday night, telling ESPN he’s just “sore” but he still needs to be “cautious.” Tatum has previously injured the same ankle.”

Plus, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe revealed that Tatum wasn’t even wearing a boot post-game.

“Jayson Tatum isn’t being made available for interviews. He’s at his locker eating and joking with teammates and wearing sneakers on both feet though.”

All of this information, combined with the fact that Tatum said he was going to be fine, should be a clear indication that worries in Boston should be limited.

There are roughly three weeks until the playoffs begin, so Tatum has plenty of time to rest up and get healthy before the Celtics begin their quest for Banner 19.
