Sunday night was ugly for the Boston Celtics. Just two days after they demolished the Indiana Pacers in a 37-point win, they lost to the same exact team. Boston’s defense looked completely out of sorts as the Pacers poured in 66 points in the paint, waltzing by the Celtics on nearly every possession.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors are in a very rough spot. They have lost 10 games in a row and are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season. Injuries have plagued their season, yet they still managed to take the Celtics to overtime earlier this year.
Here are the injury reports for the Celtics’ game against the Raptors on Wednesday, January 31.
Celtics injury report vs. Raptors on Wednesday, December 31
- Jrue Holiday AVAILABLE (right shoulder impingement)
- Kristaps Porzingis OUT (left ankle sprain)
Raptors injury report vs. Celtics Wednesday, December 31
- Gradey Dick QUESTIONABLE (hamstring)
- Davion Mitchell AVAILABLE (illness)
- Bruno Fernando AVAILABLE (toe)
- RJ Barrett OUT (undisclosed)
- Immanuel Quickley OUT (elbow)
Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday have missed both of the Celtics’ last two games, and Holiday has been out for even longer than that. Both were questionable heading into Wednesday afternoon.
Porzingis left the Celtics’ Christmas Day game against the Philadelphia 76ers with an ankle injury and has been out ever since. He’s been dealing with a bunch of small lower-body injuries ever since returning from offseason surgery.
Meanwhile, Holiday has been dealing with a nagging shoulder issue. He’s missed three straight games.
With Holiday sidelined, the Celtics have had two of their worst defensive performances of the year against the Sixers and Pacers.
For the Raptors, RJ Barrett, who has been having an amazing season and put up career numbers last time Toronto was in Boston, is will be out on Wednesday for an undisclosed reason.
Immanuel Quickley will not play either, as he’s still recovering from an elbow injury.
In addition, Grady Dick is a game-time decision on Wednesday due to a hamstring problem, while Davion Mitchell was questionable with an illness. Bruno Fernando was also questionable, as he’s dealing with a toe issue, but both he and Mitchell have since been made available.
