According to Boston Celtics PR, two starters are on the injury report heading into their Game 4 contest against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night. Jrue Holiday is OUT, as he's dealing with a right hamstring strain. This will be the second straight game he's missed after sitting out Game 3, a 95-93 loss for the Celtics.
Jaylen Brown is also listed on the report, but he is QUESTIONABLE to play in Game 4. Brown is still dealing with the same knee issue that has plagued him for the last couple of months. He received injections in his knee prior to the start of the playoffs.
Jayson Tatum, who was upgraded from doubtful to questionable to active ahead of Game 3, is no longer on the injury report after injuring his wrist in Game 1 of the series after taking a hard fall at the hands of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
Celtics injury report for Game 4 vs. Magic: Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday
Here is the full official injury report for the Celtics heading into Game 4 vs. the Magic:
Jrue Holiday - OUT - Right hamstring strain
Jaylen Brown - QUESTIONABLE - Right posterior knee impingement
Boston dropped Game 3, and the prevailing story from the night was the Magic's overwhelming physicality. Orlando picked up their third Flagrant foul of the series when Cole Anthony threw Brown to the ground, causing him to dislocate his finger, though that's not why he's on the injury report for Game 4. “I dislocated my index finger, but I got nine more, so I’m alright,” Brown said post-game.
However, when asked about the physicality and how the Celtics reacted, Joe Mazzulla instead decided to point fingers at the many other issues that affected the Celtics.
"Out of the 95 points, 46 came off turnovers, offensive rebounds, and free throws,” Mazzulla told reporters on Saturday morning. “So, you just can't be blinded by the details…You have to fight like hell to win those [the margins]"
With Holiday sidelined, the Celtics were left without one of their top ball-handlers and one of the best defenders in the NBA. They felt that impact, and he's still working through his hamstring issue. "He's doing well," Joe Mazzulla told reporters on Saturday morning. "He's day-to-day. Just taking it one day at a time, just seeing how he comes out of it."
Boston turned the ball over 19 times, including 13 from Tatum and Brown combined. Plus, with Holiday out, Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero had one less body to worry about, as he's been an elite one-on-one defender against those two this series.
Magic injury report for Game 4 vs. Celtics: Jalen Suggs, Mo Wagner
The only two players who are out for the Magic are Jalen Suggs and Mo Wagner, both of whom are out for the year.
Jalen Suggs - OUT - Left knee trochlea cartilage tear
Mo Wagner - OUT - Torn left ACL
